|
For Release: September, 2006 Contact: Jason Fisher, Product Development Manager, (260) 469-4411 Campus Security Software Pilot to Commence Fort Wayne, IN - .VersiTech LLC announced that Ball State University will install the company’s suite of homeland security software tools. VersiTech has developed command and control software which improves the common operating picture for the campus police department by utilizing much of the university’s existing security infrastructure. VersiTech’s solution provides transparent connections for disparate communications and database systems improving interoperability and provides campus officers real-time situational awareness. “VersiTech’s solution gets accurate information to the right people in real time,” said VersiTech founder Don Willis, “The system is useful every day as well as in major emergencies.” By creating a repository for information, the software will automate federally mandated National Incident Management System (NIMS) compliance documentation. Another facet of the VersiTech software, the Threat Vulnerability Assessment and Response tool, can also be used to evaluate security at university venues such as Emens Auditorium, Worthen Arena and Scheumann Stadium. “The VersiTech system is a new technology tool that can help the university police department be more efficient in the use of existing resources,” said Gene Burton, university police chief. “Improving efficiency can help us enhance our effectiveness.” Ball State was chosen as the pilot institution due to its strong emphasis on wireless technology and interest in building on its reputation as a leader in the use and testing of new technologies. “Ball State is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our faculty, staff, students and visitors,” Burton said. “We look forward to providing VersiTech with feedback on their system based upon our use of it.” |
